Speaker Series Kicks Off

The Front Row

Last night marked the debut of our monthly speaker series. Mari Sheibley kindly came to talk about iPhone design and some of the lessons she’s learnt during her time heading up design at Foursquare.

The evening went remarkably smoothly. We assembled 30 chairs, had a decent amount of snacks & drinks and successfully cleared half the office to act as a temporary auditorium. More significantly, our wild guesses at balancing how many people the space could handle and whether anyone would actually turn up worked out about right.

Mari kept her talk concise allowing the evening to focus on Q&A, which for the audience size, worked well at establishing the level of mobile conversation people were curious to engage in. I particularly enjoyed Mari’s explanation and thought process behind the evolution of Foursquare’s explore interface.

Thanks very much to those who attended and of course, special thanks to Mari herself. If you couldn’t make it we’ve uploaded some photos to flickr. We hope to see you next time for Buglabs on May 17th!

If you attended last night please let us know what you thought and what we could improve next time in the comments below or via Twitter. If you’re interested in speaking, we’d love to hear from you too!
